for Vacation by Blexbolex
From The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY)
In this wordless picture book, readers are introduced to a man and his granddaughter on vacation in the countryside. One day they travel to the train station to pick up a seemingly expected visitor. A small elephant. From this point on the small family go on adventures, some expected and other outlandish. The barriers between dreams and reality are thin within the pages of this book. Illustrations have a graphic, print like, quality with a bright color palette.

From the Publisher
Time moves slowly on vacation. And for someone who has spent a long time entertaining themselves and has had the garden, the kitchen, forest paths, the lake, and even Grandpa all to herself, it can be hard to invite another in on the fun. So when a young girl's grandfather brings an elephant home to stay, she is not pleased at all. Nostalgic and often dreamlike, this wordless story is about interrupted solitude, learning to be together with another, and how the choices we make deeply affect our lives.
