Using a background of blue-lined writing paper, ubiquitous in elementary classrooms, a young boy lists all his sibling’s amazing feats. The actual text is simple, “My brother is really COOL” (n.p.). What makes this book fasci nating, and infinitely re-readable, are the arrows that lead from captions to specific “cool” aspects of the older brother. Browne has created a tribute to brotherly love that is a fitting companion to his other family books, My Dad (2001) and My Mom (reviewed here). Anthony Browne is the recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the Kate Greenaway Award (twice), and is the British Children’s Laureate for 2009 to 2011. lmp
