A game of hide-and-seek has a bear searching for its animal friends in this winsome board book illustrated in shades of blue and gold on cream-colored pages. The appealing design features the bear, wearing a blue sweater with simple cream spirals, on the right of every page spread; the composition on the left at first conceals and then, with a turn of the page, reveals one of bear’s friends. “I found you, Little Cat!” the bear exclaims when Little Cat emerges from under an umbrella. “Meow!” Little Duck was camouflaged as a cactus. “Quack!” Little Pig is revealed behind the drapes. “Oink!” Little Turtle was pretending to be the leaf of a plant. “Clunk!” (The sound of little Turtle’s shell when he rolls over.) Little Mouse was trying to blend in with the cooking pots. “Squeak!” Only Little Snail eludes discovery, but is one of the spirals on the bear’s sweater moving? Some of the animals are easy to spot before they’re revealed, some harder, while the sense of fun and friendship is constant. (Ages 2-4)
